Brian Perry Olson was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on 6 March 1973. He has been a competitor on four United States Olympic teams in judo: 1996 (under 86 kg), 2000 (under 90 kg), and 2004 (under 90 kg), and 2008. He won the bronze medal in the 1997 World Championships (under 86 kg), and was affiliated with the University of Colorado.
