The British Columbia Film Classification Office, part of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General in the Canadian province of British Columbia under the Motion Picture Act of BC. The BCFCO ratings are also used by Saskatchewan under the terms of a bilateral agreement. Beginning on January 1, 1997, the BCFCO used the following motion picture rating system (based on the Canadian Home Video Rating System) for theatrical releases:
