He guested on 'Late Night With David Letterman' and appeared in an episode of 'Full House.'
Shortly after production wrapped on 'Air Bud,' he developed synovial cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, and had one of his hind legs amputated to prevent it from spreading. But the cancer had spread and he died in his sleep (1998).
Shortly before his death he sired a litter of nine puppies (December 31, 1997).
In his career he made close to 23,000 baskets.
