In September 2006, Young Buck announced that he intended on launching his own label, named Cashville Records. 50 Cent, encouraged Young Buck's efforts, despite Young Buck still being signed to G-Unit Records, as he wanted the two labels to have a good relationship. The label was originally called G-Unit South, but as it was not under the Interscope umbrella, a name change was in order. At the time of the announcement of the label, Young Buck had signed Lil' Murder and Hi-C(not the Compton, CA rapper) as solo artists, and collectively as a group, of which he is also a member, known as "615", which refers to the Nashville, Tennessee area code, where Young Buck was raised.
In January 2007, a Sacramento rapper, C-Bo signed a deal with the label. And later in March of the same year, the Montclair group known as the Outlawz, signed to the label.
