The Camino Nuevo Correctional Center opened in July 2006. The prison provides a gender responsive environment with a continuum of programs and services, which are designed to expand the economic and social roles of women. An emphasis is placed on education, career counseling, traditional and non-traditional vocational training, life skills--including parenting and pre-release, as well as addressing the unique medical and mental health needs of women.
