Canandaigua

Canandaigua (Utaʼnaráhkhwaʼ in Tuscarora) is a city in Ontario County, New York, of which it is the county seat. The population was 10,545 at the 2010 census. The name Canandaigua is derived from the Seneca name spelled variously Kanandarque, Ganondagan, Ga-nun-da-gwa, or in a modern transcription, tganǫdæ:gwęh, which means "the chosen spot", or "at the chosen town".
