Caninae

Caninae is the subfamily of Canidae. Many extinct Caninae are endemic to North America living from 26.3 Ma—11,000 years ago and existed for approximately 26.289 million years. One of their closest fossil relatives is the Sardinian Dhole. More basal canids are placed in the extinct subfamilies Hesperocyoninae and Borophaginae.
