In 2003, Colón signed a developmental contract with WWE. He worked in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) for two years frequently teaming with Mike Mondo and being managed by Kenny Bolin. After training in OVW for several years, Colón made his debut on October 7, 2004, on SmackDown! as Carlito Caribbean Cool.
