Carol City is a former census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 59,443 at the 2000 census.
Originally called "Coral City" by developers, pressure from the city of Coral Gables forced a name change to Carol City. In 2003 the majority of this CDP was incorporated into the city of Miami Gardens.

As the decades progressed, many people in Miami Gardens blamed the public housing in the area, including the developments around Carol City High School, of importing crime and recreational drugs into the area. In 2007 Mayor Shirley Gibson of Miami Gardens said that she will no longer allow any more public housing projects in Miami Gardens.
