Carson Daly was born June 22, 1973 to J.D. and Pattie Daly in Santa Monica, California. When Daly was 6, his father died from bladder cancer. His mother eventually remarried Richard Caruso, a golf shop owner. Daly attended Santa Monica High School and was a member of the school's golf team before graduating in 1991.
