He served as offensive coordinator for the Florida Gators during the 2011 season. For five years, from 2005 through 2009, Weis was the head football coach at the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame in 1978, Weis began his coaching career at Boonton High School in New Jersey. He spent the next five seasons at Morristown High School in New Jersey as a football assistant.
