Chambers attended Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio. While there, he was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball, and track. In football, he won All-America accolades and was a two-time all-state selection. In basketball, he was a third-team all-state performer as a senior. In track, he won the state championship in the 400-meter dash as a senior with a time of 47.1 seconds. He was a high school teammate of former Wisconsin Badgers teammate and current Buffalo Bills wide receiver Lee Evans.
