Christine "Chrissie" Watts is a fictional character from the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Tracy-Ann Oberman.
She is perhaps best known for killing the character of Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), her husband, in an episode that was watched by 14.34 million British TV viewers. She was also well-known for her paranoid character and extreme manipulation to make sure things went smoothly in her favour. She would face facts and put up a fight, rather than turn to the bottle like Den's first wife, Angie, yet proved to be just as irrational when she ended up losing it and murdering him.
Chrissie was introduced to EastEnders in April 2004, the husband of Den Watts who had previously lived in Spain. Tracy-Ann Oberman was cast in the role, and started filming only ten days after her audition. Oberman commented on her casting, "I feel like I'm caught in a whirlwind and my feet haven't even touched the ground yet. [...] I haven't had time to think about what this role is going to do...
