He has been performing with Depeche Mode's live band since 1997, as drummer, occasional backing vocalist and, more recently, occasional keyboard player on 2009's Tour of the Universe, notably on the encore track "Waiting for the Night". He has played drums on DM`s albums Exciter, Playing the Angel and Sounds of the Universe , being the only officially non-member who has played both in recording sessions and live shows of Depeche Mode. He has even co-written Depeche Mode tracks with singer Dave Gahan and programmer Andrew Phillpott since 2005, most notably the Grammy-nominated Depeche Mode single "Suffer Well" together with "Nothing's Impossible" and "I Want It All" from the album Playing the Angel, as well as Gahan's 2007 solo effort Hourglass, which he and Phillpott co-produced.
