Christopher Fettes (born in 1937 in England) is an Irish teacher, Green politician and activist. He studied English and French at Trinity College, Dublin. In that time he became vegetarian and an esperantist. After his studies he became a citizen of Ireland. He began to work as a teacher. He also became active in numerous animal rights and esperantist organizations. He helped refound the anti-vivisection society in 1970 and the Vegetarian Society of Ireland in 1978. In 1971 he served as treasurer of the Irish Esperantist Association. He soon became active in several international organizations, such as the International Vegetarian Union, of which he was European secretary in 1982. and the Global Esperantist Vegetarian Association, of which he was chairman in 1992.
