A trader named Gar brings the Doctor's mobile emitter to a crowded hospital where he barters a price for the 'trinket' with Administrator Chellick. A term is settled upon as the Doctor's emitter is activated as newly injured patients are brought in and the Doctor begins treating them.
Back on Voyager Harry and Tom go to sickbay after a game of holographic hockey to heal some minor scrapes. The program that is activated and initially states 'Please state the nature of the medical emergency?' The Doctor then scans them and tells the two to take an analgesic. Soon afterward the Doctor's program is found to be a fake.
