The dachshund (UK  /ˈdæksənd/ or US /ˈdɑːkshʊnt/ DAHKS-huunt or US /ˈdɑːksənt/; German: [ˈdaksˌhʊnt]) is a short-legged, long-bodied dog breed belonging to the hound family.
