Danger Beneath the Sea is a thriller TV movie released in 2001. The story revolves around an American nuclear attack submarine named the USS Lansing which, after a North Korean nuclear missile test goes wrong, is cut off from communications. After detecting radioactivity in the air and believing the world to be at nuclear war, the Executive Officer on board the vessel takes command of the ship from the Captain and prepares to fire the submarine's nuclear missiles at targets in Russia. Some members of the crew don't believe this scenario and join with the Captain to take back control of the ship, while a second American Submarine is given the task of hunting down and destroying the Lansing before it can start a real war. In the end the Captain is successful in regaining control of the vessel and preventing the ship's missiles from being launched.
