Daniel Lucius Vasella MD (born, 15 August 1953 in Fribourg) is Chairman of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis AG since 1996. He is married to Anne-Laurence, who is the niece of a former Sandoz chairman Moret. Vasella obtained his M.D. in 1979 from the University of Bern in Switzerland.
