David Haussler is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. He is also Professor of Biomolecular Engineering and Director of the Center for Biomolecular Science and Engineering at theUniversity of California, Santa Cruz; scientific co-director of the California Institute for Quantitative Biomedical Research; and a consulting professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and UC San Francisco Biopharmaceutical Sciences Department. David Haussler received his Ph.D. in computer science from University of Colorado at Boulder in 1982. He is member of National Academy of Sciences and member of American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was recently profiled by the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, describing his lab's significant contributions to the Human Genome Project and his work on genome evolution. less
