David Jan Skorton (born November 22, 1949) is an American professor of medicine and an academic administrator. He is currently serving as the president of Cornell University.

Skorton studied at the University of California, Los Angeles before transferring to Northwestern University, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1970 and an M.D. in 1974. He completed his medical residency and fellowship in cardiology at UCLA.
Skorton began his long career with the University of Iowa as an instructor in 1980. In 1981, he was named an assistant professor in internal medicine, and in 1982 he became an assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering. While at the University of Iowa, he also served as vice president for research and as interim vice president for external relations, and he ultimately served as the nineteenth president of the university from 2003 to 2006.
