Taking place some time after the events of Dawn of the Dead, the film opens with a woman named Sarah sitting in an empty room, staring across at a calendar mounted on the opposite wall. As she gets up and touches the calendar, hundreds of decomposing hands break through the wall and grab at her. Sarah then awakens inside a helicopter, realizing it was just a bad dream.
