As everybody gathers for the regular poker game (including visiting physicians Major Sidney Freedman (Allan Arbus) and Captain Sam Pak (Pat Morita), a wounded criminal investigation agent is brought in to the operating room and Major Burns chooses to obey standing orders against treating him (for fear the agent will divulge secrets under anaesthesia) until the arrival of another CID agent - upon learning of situation, chief surgeon Captain Pierce flouts procedure in order to save the man's life. Radar accidentally runs over “Whiplash Hwang,” a Korean who makes a career of faking injuries and filing personal injury lawsuits. This episode sees the first appearance of Edward Winter—as "Captain Halloran"; Winter would have a recurring role as Intelligence officer Colonel Sam Flagg (ambiguous dialog in that episode may have been meant to suggest that "Halloran" was a cover). John Ritter guest stars as a soldier who takes Major Burns hostage to get home.
