The Census Bureau estimates its 2007 population to be 160,865. Its county seat is the City of Delaware, and both are named after the Delaware (Lenape) tribe. The county is expected to see explosive growth in the years to come as young people that want to escape from the city, move to the suburbs of southern Delaware County.
