Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, released in 1988, was American blues musician Robert Cray's follow-up to Strong Persuader. Fellow Californian Phillip Walker ( a still-active blues legend)did a superior cover of "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" the same year under the same producer, Dennis Walker. This follow-up to "Strong Persuader" was unable to match its mainstream success despite having an equal number of gems.
