Dragon Quest IX continues the Dragon Quest tradition of turn-based combat, but is much harder than its previous titles. Unlike previous games, the player will have much more control over their characters appearance. While Dragon Quest III and IV allowed players to change the hero to a heroine, Dragon Quest IX allows them to go much further by defining things like hair styles and skin tone.
