Dustin Moskovitz co-founded the social networking website Facebook along with Mark Zuckerberg and Chris Hughes.
Born in Washington, D.C., Moskovitz attended Harvard University as an economics major for two years before he moved to Palo Alto to work full-time on Facebook. On October 3, 2008, Moskovitz announced that he will leave Facebook in a month to form a new company with Justin Rosenstein, an engineering manager who first worked at Google then later worked at Facebook. Moskovitz plans to form a company that will be "to your work life what Facebook.com is to your social life". Moskovitz had recruited Rosenstein to Facebook; while at Facebook, they collaborated together on software for business users. Moskovitz's departure follows a series of departures by Facebook executives. In response to this, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, released a statement, saying, "Dustin has always had Facebook's best interest at heart and will always be someone I turn to for advice."
