Born to an unmarried mother living in Overtown and a largely absent father with an alleged drug problem, Dwayne Bowe and his older brother Wayne were raised by their paternal grandparents, KW and Dorothy Williams, since Dwayne was only months old. Struggling with school, gangs, and fighting, Bowe grew into a big and athletic teenager but was not involved in many sports. It wasn't until his junior year in high school that he had a life-changing experience and began his football career.
