Edgar Rosenberg (born c. 1925 – August 14, 1987) was a British television producer who was also the husband of comedian/commentator Joan Rivers and father of Melissa Rivers. His credits include Husbands, Wives & Lovers; he had also been Rivers' manager and was a producer on The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers on the newly formed Fox Television Network.
Several months after Fox fired Rivers in early 1987, Rosenberg committed suicide on August 14, 1987, by overdosing on prescription drugs. He had been suffering from clinical depression, which Rivers believes was brought on by medication he had been taking since he suffered a heart attack in 1984.
His mother, Frieda Warburg Rosenberg, was born in Germany some time in the late 1890s. His father was a prominent film producer. The family lived in comfort until the early 1930s, when Adolf Hitler took power. The family quickly moved to Denmark, a much more hospitable place for Jews. They learned a new language and built a new life.
