In this episode, Edwina "Eddie" Ferguson, a fairly attractive but hopelessly clumsy nurse, cannot find any romance at the 4077th and the other nurses conspire to hold off their romantic relationships with the doctors and corpsman until someone agrees to date her. Eventually, the doctors draw straws and Hawkeye becomes her date for an evening.
This episode contains several examples of the sexual humor emphasized in early episodes of M*A*S*H. The comedic theme of women withholding sex is derived from Aristophanes' play Lysistrata.
