In August 2010 German state owned TV ARD reported of having information that the Europa league match between clubs Olimpija and Široki Brijeg is fixed, which was later reported by numerous media across Europe. Asian and European betting companies were the first to report their suspicion of the match being fixed after several people deposited a total of 4 million euros that Široki would win shortly before the start of the match. It was later revealed that UEFA is investigating the match and that three players of NK Olimpija are under investigation. One of them was Ermin Rakovič, who later publicly denied his involvement. The implications came only a year after UEFA revealed that NK Interblock, a club where Rakovič played at the time, was under similar investigation for their Europa league match one season earlier.
