When Hawkeye complains to Trapper about the chill in the air and his worn-out boot, Trapper suggests that he go to supply officer Sgt. Zale for a replacement. Zale offers to get Hawkeye some new boots in exchange for a dental bridge. Dr. Futterman, the camp dentist, will only do the job if Hawkeye gets him a three-day pass to Tokyo, which Col.
