Alex Adams was a protege of Anton Meyer. A romance with SHO Sam Kennedy almost ended his career, when in an attempt to lure Alex into spending the night with her, Sam spent an evening in the hospital bar buying Alex double instead of single measures. Unaware he was over the speed limit, Alex caused the death of a young boy due to drink driving. Although he escaped a jail sentence, when Meyer left to work in America, Alex decided to accompany him. He later returned and was persuaded to stay at Holby by Cardiothoracic Consultant Ed Loftwood.
