Franchot Tone (February 27, 1905 – September 18, 1968) was an American actor.
He was born Stanislaus Pascal Franchot Tone in Niagara Falls, New York, the youngest son of Dr. Frank Jerome Tone, the president of the Carborundum Company, and his wife, Gertrude Van Vrancken Franchot. He was of French Canadian, Irish, English and Basque ancestry, and was related to Irish revolutionary Theobald Wolfe Tone.
