The French Wikipedia (French: Wikipédia francophone, Wikipédia en français) is the French-language edition of Wikipedia, spelt Wikipédia. This edition was started in March 2001, and has about 1,252,000 articles as of May 2012, making it the third-largest Wikipedia overall, after the English-language and German-language editions. It was also the third edition, after the English Wikipedia and German Wikipedia, to exceed 1 million articles.
