Sai was a Go tutor for the Emperor in the Heian Era (the name Fujiwara is real and indicates that Sai is related to a noble family of immense prestige and power). The Emperor also had a second tutor, and, one day, the second tutor suggested that there was no need for the Emperor to have two tutors. It was decided that they would have a game to see which of them should stay on at the palace. The match proceeded evenly, but then things took a turn for the malign, as Sai noticed the second tutor producing an opposite colored stone from his goke, and placing it in his agehama, increasing his number of prisoners, and giving him the advantage in the game. Just as Sai was about to point this out, the second tutor started yelling accusations at Sai for cheating in the same way.
