Gallatin is a city in Daviess County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,789 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Daviess County. The Gallatin Election Day Battle took place in 6 August 1838, when about 200 non-Mormons attempted to forcibly prevent Mormons from voting in the newly created counties first election.
