In 2007, the urban area, or agglomération franco-valdo-genevoise (Great Geneva) had 1,240,000 · inhabitants in 189 municipalities in both Switzerland and France. In 2010 there were over 470,000 people living in the 74 Swiss municipalities that make up the agglomeration.
