Elias George Basevi FRS (1 April 1794 – 16 October 1845) was an English architect. He was the favourite pupil of Sir John Soane.

Buildings he designed include the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the corner houses of Belgrave Square, London, much of Lowndes Square, stables at Bretton Hall, St Mary's Parish Church, Greenwich (1824, demolished 1935), St Thomas' Parish Church, Stockport (1825), Bywell Bridge, Northumberland, he added the Entrance Hall and Dining Room at Painswick House for his brother-in-law William Henry Hyett, and Gatcombe Park, currently the home of the Princess Royal. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1843.
He died on 15 October 1845, aged 51, after falling through an opening in the floor of the old bell chamber of the west tower of Ely Cathedral while inspecting repairs. His remains were buried in Bishop Alcock's chapel at the east end of the cathedral under a monumental brass.
