In 1979 he appeared as the head of Dustin Hoffman's advertising firm in the Academy Award-winning Kramer vs. Kramer. He was himself nominated for an Academy Award for the 1968 comedy short film The Dove, a parody of Ingmar Bergman's films, which he co-directed as well as starred in. Coe is also known for a guest-starring role in Star Trek: The Next Generation; in the 1991 episode "First Contact," he plays Chancellor Durkin, the leader of an alien planet...
