George Hickenlooper (born May 25, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American documentary film-maker.
Hickenlooper attended high school at St. Louis University High. After graduating from Yale University with a B.A. in History and Film Studies in 1986, Hickenlooper interned for the producer Roger Corman, and launched his directing career with Art, Acting, and the Suicide Chair: Dennis Hopper in 1988.

As a child, he collected comic books. At 12, he attended his first comic-book convention, staying in a hotel and buying and selling comic books. According to his mother, he recovered his expenses.
In addition to his films, Hickenlooper authored a 1991 book Reel Conversations.
