A native of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania, who grew up in Randolph, New Jersey. He lived with his father, Jim, and his mother. He attended prep schools in the area until moving on to high school. Parros played high school hockey at the Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, with whom he won Rookie of the Year honors in 1994–1995, followed by All-State recognition as an upperclassman. As time went by he knew that the lack of interest in the area for hockey would not lead to a chance at playing professionally.
