Academic standards at the university have increased dramatically in the last decade - in 1999 the average SAT score was 987. For the 2009 fall semester, the average SAT score for incoming freshman was more than 1,106, an increase of 119 points. The 2008 freshman SAT average (1111) was the fourth-highest in the University System of Georgia.
