Ghost of the Robot was a rock band, based in Southern California. It gained a following mainly due to its lead singer, actor James Marsters. The band was formed in April 2002. Ghost of the Robot was a rock band, based in Southern California. It gained a following mainly due to its lead singer, actor James Marsters. The band was formed in April 2002. Its members were Charlie De Mars (guitar and vocals), Aaron Anderson (drums and vocals), James Marsters (lead vocals), Steve Sellers (keyboards and vocals, d. February 21, 2009), and Kevin McPherson (bass). Influences include Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Ben Folds, among others. The band recorded one album, Mad Brilliant, a showcase of De Mars' song writing skills, with Marsters writing "Dangerous", "Angel"' and Sellers writing "Valerie". The album was a sell-out success, as were both European tours in 2003 and 2004. On their 2004 European tour, the band chose to release an EP entitled It's Nothing, giving a taster from their long awaited second album.
