According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.3 square miles (11.2 km²), of which, 3.8 square miles (9.9 km²) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²) of it (11.52%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 4,264 people, 1,728 households, and 1,225 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,109.1 per square mile (428.7/km²). There were 1,791 housing units at an average density of 465.9/sq mi (180.1/km²).
