It was created in the summer of 1978 and originally was a 2A school, but is presently 4A. The school's rivals are Peninsula High School (Purdy, Pierce County) and South Kitsap High School (Port Orchard, WA).
Speech & Debate Team The speech and debate team attends both state and national tournaments yearly. It is one of the most successful teams of the school, and won the statewide tournament in the 2007-2008 season. The team participates in policy debate, LD (Lincoln-Douglas), Public Forum, various interpretation events, platform speaking and limited prep events. They have been coached by Chris Coovert (commonly known as Coov) since September 2000.
