After speculation following job postings seeking engineers and analysts in the telecommunications sector, in mid-March 2007 Google Managing Director for Spain and Portugal Isabel Aguilera stated that the company was "investigating" a possible mobile phone device to extend the information society to developing countries.. In response to speculation fueled by unconfirmed reports claiming inside information on an imminent Google mobile phone device, Google's South-East Asia managing director of sales and operations Richard Kimber stated, "At this point in time, we are very focused on the software, not the phone." Though the rumor of Google creating a phone has not been officially denied, Google might partner with a hardware manufacturer to create the Google phone.
