The Gospel of Thomas or The Gospel According to Thomas (Coptic: ⲡⲉ̅ⲩ̅ⲁ̅ⲅⲅ̅ⲉⲗ̅ⲓⲟⲛ̅ ⲡⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲧⲁ ⲑ̅ⲱ̅ⲙⲁⲥ), is a New Testament apocryphon, nearly completely preserved in a Coptic papyrus manuscript discovered in December 1945. With over fifty other documents, together known as the Nag Hammadi library, it was found by a farmer in an earthenware jar buried near Nag Hammadi, Egypt.
