Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast is Kid Rock's debut album, released by Jive Records in 1990. A college radio station which played an uncensored version of the song "Yo-Da-Lin In the Valley" was fined $23,700 by the FCC. Jive let the album sit and dropped Kid Rock from their label soon after. The album sold only 1,000 copies upon initial release. The Album is extremely different then the rest of Kid Rock's Discography. Kid Rock's style in this album is similar to the Beastie Boys. It is also one of the only Jive Records albums that does not contain a Jive from the days when it was distributed by RCA Records. Instead it was credited to Kid Rock's Top Dog Records custom imprint with copyright assigned to Jive's parent company, Zomba Recording Corporation, which is now a division of Sony Music.
This remains the only Kid Rock album to be available at the iTunes store because of Kid Rock boycotting iTunes and the fact that he does not own the rights to this album.
