Hamilton County was created in 1827. It was named for Alexander Hamilton, first United States Secretary of the Treasury. In 1991 the first County Fire dept. was built, Cross Roads Fire Dept. INC. Soon after other fire dept.s began to open. Belville fire dept. INC opened soon after Cross Roads. With Cross Roads FD INC., Belville FD INC., and Jennings FD INC. the entire west end of the county is fire and rescue protected. Other FD's exist in the east end of the county too. Hamilton county Jail was built in the 80s. The jail (nickname CJ) is also the county's 911 center. The Jail 911 dispatch center is main hub for all county 911 calls Fire, EMS, and Police. On a normal day you have two dispatchers taking calls.
